Nigeria’s D’Tigress emerge African Champions

Nigeria have emerged winners of the 2017 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket Championship.
D’Tigress defeated Senegal 65-48 in the final of the tournament played on Sunday in Bamako, Mali.
However, D’Tigress started the final game on a bad note, losing the first quarter 12-18 to the Senegalese, who failed to keep up in the second quarter.
Nigeria took it 21-10, to end the first half with 33-28 points.
Sam Vincent’s ladies dominated the third quarter winning 15-7, while the last quarter seemed very tough for both sides as Nigeria led with 17 points margin against Senegal’s 13 points to end the game with 65-48 points in favour of D’Tigress.

PRESIDENCY REWARDS THE VICTORIOUS D'TIGRESS
The victorious female national basketball team has been received by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa.
The President approved N1 million each for the D’Tigress, who conquered Africa in the 2017 FIBA Women AfroBasket tournament in Mali and qualifying for the 2018 FIBA Women Basketball World Cup in Spain.
President Buhari made the announcement before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting on Wednesday.
Team captain, Aisha Mohammed told reporters that the cash reward would spur them to go for gold in Spain next year.
