MY YOUTH IS MINE- ENTREPRENEURSHIP THE WAY FORWARD

- ENTREPRENEURSHIP THE WAY FORWARD

The world is just recovering from an economic meltdown, whatever that means??? Because nothing felt different around here, everything was still same-o-same-o of me waking up everything morning with barely a dollar in my pocket and praying to God I make it through the day hoping I get a breakthrough in my hustle.

My society demands for me to be recognized in the community I must be educated, and yeah I’ve got nothing against education because without it I won’t be able to hold this pen and pass my message across, but nowadays I wonder what Good education is when I go through various forms and levels of it, only to find out that there is no place for me, no jobs after spending so much to get a degree.

The rate of unemployment around the world is alarming, graduate have to settle for 3rd class menial jobs after trusting in the educational sector. I feel disappointed with myself, like I’ve let myself down , I feel like I’ve wasted so many years  in my pursuit of knowledge that I don’t really need.
I had to stop this article for a while to get other people’s opinion. because I was thinking I might be the only one feeling this way, so when my cousin had a visitor who was a friend from way back in school and the first thing he said was he regretted going to the university I took interest, he said he wished his father had let him learn carpentry or tailoring instead of insisting on the more over hyped and glamorous education maybe he wouldn’t be a jobless person now with hardly any skill, I could feel the regret and pain in his voice and identify with it.

Am in my mid 20’s now, am young strong and vibrant and I’ve decided to take my youth into my hands use it for myself and no man. My future is in my hands and I live it to no one to decide for me. I will invest in myself and improve myself for myself. Work hard with my youth so my old age may be secured, I have seen too many man serve others with their youth and end up being left with nothing in their old age, I refuse to go down  nor follow that path. So the next time I wake I might have more than a dollar in my pocket

Entrepreneurship is the way forward; we have to change our mentality from being job seekers to being a job creator, from employees to employer. Education is important but you just have to make sure you are educating yourself for yourself; some people go to school to work for an oil company, some to work in banks, living day to day with the constant fear of losing their jobs. Make you youth yours. Work for yourself.
